History of Ireland's 'Lotto'
Lotto was started in Ireland in 1986 by An Post to provide an exciting game that would change lives and raise money for good causes. In 2014, Premier Lotteries Ireland took over operations after being granted a 20 year license by the Irish Government.
In 2008 the largest ever Irish lotto jackpot was won. 16 quarry workers joined a syndicate that would change their lives forever winning €18.9 Million (over $29.5 Million AUD) between them. Can you imagine how they must have felt?!
As with most lotteries, Irish lotto not only makes millionaires out of ordinary people, it also contributes to charity. Raising approx. €4.3 Million (approx. $7.6 Million AUD) a week for good causes, this lottery continues to delight players with its simplicity, favourable odds and twice weekly jackpots.
